Ashleigh has always been captivated by music and the creative arts. She studied classical piano and dance into her teenage years, and went on to study music psychology and music composition at the University of Melbourne. She believes music is important in our lives because it connects us to other people, our culture and ourselves. It is also accessible to everyone, whether we are singing along in our heads or unknowingly tapping our feet!
Ashleigh has held a variety of roles, including keyboard teaching, mental health outreach, disability support and animal care. She recently completed her Honours in Psychology and was drawn back to music because of its emotional benefits. She enjoys teaching at Mini Maestros because it starts the music learning experience early in children’s lives. She loves all the benefits this brings children, including social connection, improved body awareness, creative thinking, language development and emotional wellbeing.
