Natalie has a rich music background, including private piano, voice and trombone lessons, making music with family members through singing, dancing and playing guitar, and growing up singing acapella at church. She is originally from Canada, graduating in 2008 from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Special Education minor.
All throughout school and uni, Natalie took full advantage of every curricular and extra-curricular music opportunity offered, being in choirs and acapella groups, Orff ensembles, recorder ensembles, tour bands, jazz bands, wind ensembles, and honour bands and choirs. She completed Orff Schulwerk Level 3 training in 2013 here in Victoria, as well as ‘Neuropedagogy and Music’ and ‘Drumming up a Better Brain’ short courses offered through the Victorian Orff Schulwerk Association. Natalie taught Music and Performing Arts to Prep-Year 6 students for 11 years at Mitcham Primary School, directing choirs, producing and directing musical productions and taking the initiative to begin an Orff kinder tour group called ‘Mitcham Music Makers’.
Natalie is excited to engage preschool children in the joy of music making, creating, exploring and responding, and to have the opportunity to work with parents and Early Learning Centres as well.
