Music Education
By
Kylie Rendle - Mt Eliza Mini Maestros Franchisee
20 Years ago I sat in a cosy café in Richmond with Jenny Fogarty, the
founder of Mini Maestros and had my interview as a prospective teacher.
At the time I was completing my music degree and wasn’t sure what I was
going to do when I graduated. I wondered how it was possible to teach
music to children so young as I had always learnt music the
‘traditional’ way through playing an instrument and doing exams. Jenny
and her wonderful program, along with many professional development
sessions I attended, opened my eyes to the power that music education
has from an early age. I learnt that providing music to children in the
early years is fun and enjoyable, but can also provide so many other
benefits to prepare them for their future.

Liz Davis - Geelong/Bellarine/Surf Coast Franchisee
One can’t help but notice the constant bombardment of
advertising these days for “health products”. Things promoted to help
your wellbeing such as shakes, powders, pills and
tonics. It feels like the world is so focused on physical wellbeing –and
many of these adverts are focused on how you will feel if you look a
certain way.
If only it was this simple!
Many of our families experienced a higher level of
illnesses through the season this year. When our health suffers often
other aspects of life felt more difficult. We’re tired, grumpy,
thinking more of ourselves - how to get through each busy day with our
families.

Peekaboo Scarves –
Student Equipment
By
Emma Hart, Mini Maestros Head of Teaching
We are delighted to announce that peekaboo scarves will
be a standard part of student equipment for babies and toddlers from
2017.
Peekaboo is possibly
the ‘oldest’, and most universal game we play with our babies. The
instinct to hide our eyes and reappear with a gentle ‘boo’ seems almost
innate, and with good reason, the developmental benefits are extensive!
The primary skill we are building whenever we play
peekaboo, is confidence.

End
of Year Concerts - 2016
The 2016 Mini Maestros concerts were a great success!
Concerts are a wonderful way to celebrate our year of learning and
confidence-building together. They provide an opportunity for building
community through inter-generational social time and, most importantly,
allow children to present their love of music and learning before a
very supportive and loving audience.
Many thanks to everyone who was involved and came along,
and congratulations to all of the children (and carers) who
performed.

As the Mini Maestros year comes to an end, many of our teachers
experience both pride and sadness as they say goodbye to our graduating
4-5 year olds. Many of our graduates have been on the Mini
Maestros journey since they were babies and their development over this
time has been tremendous.
It is with a big heartfelt hug that we say farewell to this year's
graduates, and wish them all the very best with their onward journey
into life. May the music in your heart beat strong always.
