Diving
Deeper
Relationships - By Ally Hvalica
Mini Maestros Franchisee for Ivanhoe/Northcote/Rosanna/Preston
As a Mini Maestros teacher, I truly believe in our
motto: Nurturing Confident Learners. I believe if we want to achieve
this, we need to establish and nurture positive, engaging,
trustworthy and growing relationships between children, their
parents/carers and us; teachers.
From the moment children open their eyes in the
morning, they see their biggest and strongest role models, their
parents and carers. For a parent or carer to know their child is
excited to come to Mini Maestros classes, provides a special bond for
enjoying music together. This makes the child - parent/ carer
relationship stronger, because they are simply doing something they
both love together. They are sharing the joy of music.

Common First Aid Mistakes!
A 5 Part Series - 1 of 5
By Nataly Tormey - WWC Education
www.wonderwomanchildren.com
1.‘Stop choking by hitting your child between the
shoulder blades.’
Although this is a necessary step if the child’s
throat is fully blocked, it must be stressed that this should not be
the first response. Usually in the early stages of choking, the
object has only created a partial blockage, so hitting your child at
this point may cause it to move into a more dangerous position in the
airway. Instead, call the ambulance immediately, and do nothing to
interfere while you wait except for soothing your little one. It is
only if your child begins to turn blue (indicating a full blockage)
that your intervention is required. To assist, hit them firmly
between the shoulders up to five times.
· The big difference to know when to do black blows or
not, is noise. If they can make noise and their colour is good it is
a partial obstruction.
If they can not make noise it is a full obstruction
and the first aider must give 5 back blows, and 5 chest thrusts
rotating and always call for help.
