The Power of Music in Expressing Children's Emotions
By Chantelle Alvaro - Mini Maestros Montmorency, Greensborough & Eltham Franchisee & Teacher

KidsMatter, the Australian Early Childhood Mental Health Initiative (see kidsmatter.edu.au) notes that the development of children’s emotional skills includes the ability to recognise, express, understand and manage a wide range of feelings. Acquiring these skills is essential for a child’s ability to develop and interact successfully with others. Children who learn to manage their feelings may learn to recognise the negative effect that their heightened emotions (screaming, crying loudly, etc.) may have on other people in their company. Mini Maestros - Grandparents Movie

We have many Grandparents who love attending Mini Maestros so we thought it might be nice to feature a few of them in a new mini documentary video where they talk about sharing Mini Maestros with their Grandchild.

Here is "Mini Maestros Grandparents" produced by our Marketing Manager Esther Bertram.

Meet The Team

Meeting The Head Office Team

Emma Hart is the Mini Maestros Head of Teaching and has been working as part of the Head Office team for over 12 years. Emma worked closely with the late Mini Maestros founder Jenny Fogarty, who sadly passed away in 2007. Because of this close relationship, Emma has carried with her the core values of the Mini Maestros program, which remain integral to the maintenance and continued development of the program. Emma is a inspiring mentor for teachers and has developed the comprehensive 15-month training programme that makes our teachers experts in their field. Emma’s passion for teaching and education, coupled with her authenticity and honesty, spark inspiration in everyone she works with.

We interviewed Emma about super powers, life advice and deserted islands.

Music is a form of emotive expression although it can also be about performance. Who says this kind of outward creativity needs to stop with the instruments. Young Quincy (the sweet baby from the Mini Maestros Short Film) was almost born for the stage. She has loved dancing from the moment she could move. The face of her Mini Maestros teacher Esther lights up, every time Quincy enters the room with yet another amazing hair do that sometimes emulates and exaggerates her own (often) messy styled hairdo. “I know that children model everything we do, so despite me thinking this is purely about Quincy’s creative performer personality, I’d be honored to think I may be even partly responsible for Quincy’s wonderful self-expression in the form of rockstar hair.”

Stop Dizziness

By Nataly Tormey - WWC Education www.wonderwomanchildren.com

COMMON MISTAKE = ‘Stop dizziness by leaning your child forward so that their head hangs between their legs.’

The reasoning behind this is to promote blood flow to the child’s head, which does have a logical basis. However, encouraging the child to lean forward is not the best way to do this, as it may cause them to fall right over and onto their head. Instead, lie them down on their back and elevate their legs to promote blood flow to the head.
