Diving Deeper

Diving Deeper
"Imagination & Music"

By Lisa Marcolin - Mini Maestros Doncaster Franchisee

Do you remember…. as a child roaring like a tiger, flying like a fairy and jumping like a kangaroo?!? It's all about imagination.

Babies imitate silly faces. Pre schoolers can imitate and invent characters and scenes. By five, children are staging plays and concerts!

During the 16 years that I have been teaching our gorgeous Mini Maestros, I have constantly been delighted by the fairies, dinosaurs, superheroes, princesses and pirates that come to class each week! (just to name a few). When I ask the children in class how they want to move to the action song or about their costume they are very excited and go straight into character!

Mini Maestros on TV!

Have you seen our new ad on TV? It is currently running on various stations and will air until mid February, so keep an eye out, or you can also watch it below. As most of you reading this already know, more and more research is emerging that proves making music is 'super-food' for a child's developing brain. It is the only activity that engages almost all areas of the brain at once. This being the case, we decided our TV ad should be 'brain-centric."

Stories from Parents

Speech Development - Stories from Parents

By Annette L. Graham

My Son Coulton started Mini Maestros with Georgie at the Kew Library when he was two and progressed right through the programs doing his final year of instrumental work. Coulton was born with a cleft lip and pallet that basically means the front of his mouth and the inside of his pallet were not joined up properly prior to his birth. For these kids the air flows differently through their mouths. This means that speaking clearly is often very difficult for them. Coulton, like most kids with this condition, had to work with a speech therapist from a young age - he did not enjoy this at all. In contrast he always loved the Mini Maestros program. The only request he had for his three year old birthday party was that everyone join in the Fuzzy the Clown dance.

Father's Day Photo Comp

Winning Photo

Congratulations to Melissa, Mevin and their daughter Amélie for winning our last photo competition. We asked Melissa about their experience with Mini Maestros and also about the photo, and here is what she had to say.

"Amélie has loved music ever since she was a baby and has been going to Mini Maestros since she was 6 months old. She has now recently graduated. Mini Maestros has been such a great class to build Amélie's confidence and nurture her appreciation of music. MaryRose has been absolutely amazing with the kids and makes learning fun! Amélie would come home and share her passion for music and experience with her little sister. This photo was taken with her dad, Mevin on the school holidays, and Amélie was showing him the difference between high and low on the piano. Thank you for the great experience."

Meet the Team

Meeting The Head Office Team

Jo Irwin is the Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Franchisee and our Social Community Manager. Jo first attended Mini Maestros in 2002 with her 6 month old daughter. She then trained as a teacher with the original founder Jenny Fogarty, but held off starting her own classes until 2010. Jo's positivity, friendliness and open personality have seen her build strong and lasting relationships with the families in her classes.

As the Social Community Manager, Jo takes care of Mini Maestros’ presence on social media and nurtures online relationships. As a fair and kind person who is loved by all of the Franchisees and Head Office staff, Jo is in a unique position to walk the bridge between worlds – life as a Franchisee and life as Head Office staff, so she has true insight into the business of Mini Maestros from various perspectives. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful person as part of the Mini Maestros family.

We interviewed Jo about super powers, life advice and deserted islands.
