Welcome to Term 2! In Term 2 the children will expand on the important foundations set in Term 1. Now that the classroom environment is familiar, the children should be more confident and receptive. They will continue to have fun and learn about music through activities that reflect changes in the seasons and the world around them. In Teaching News, at the end of Term 1 we sadly said farewell to Emma Hart. Emma was our much loved Head of Teaching for over 10 years and in that role was responsible for training and mentoring all our teachers. Emma has moved to northern NSW and we wish her all the very best for the future. We are delighted that Maddy Kelly, formerly our Training and Development Officer, has stepped up to the Head of Teaching role and it is in her care that all Mini Maestros teachers will continue to flourish. Extensive introductory training and ongoing refresher training for all our teachers are very important parts of Mini Maestros as we strive to ensure that the experience in our classrooms is the best possible for nurturing confident young learners.

New Parents Groups

With so many things to learn as a new parent, a lovely way to connect and have fun with your new baby is through music. The age-old traditions of singing songs, sharing lap plays and saying rhymes are vitally important for babies’ cognitive, physical and emotional development. Mini Maestros can help you gain confidence to sing, move and play with your baby, and equip you with a variety of age-appropriate material.

Mini Maestros offers Free Interactive Information Sessions for New Parents Groups at maternal health centres. If you’re a new parent or know someone who is, ask your maternal nurse to contact us to request a free information session for your group.

 

 

 

App Winning Entry

We recently ran a competition involved submitting a Mini Maestros inspired photo or video via our new customer app. We were delighted with how many entries we received and were very impressed with how well the children are recalling what they learn in class at home. It was hard to pick a winner, but we will be sharing some of the runners up on social media over the coming months so keep and eye out. Congratulations to Sarah from Geelong, for submitting this video of Fletcher which has won the $250 Tiketek prize! The video wonderfully demonstrates Fletcher and Sarah following up lots of Mini Maestros activities at home as part of their daily life. Watch Sarah's video below.

This is what Sarah wrote when submitting the video. "Fletcher has just finished his first term at Mini Maestros and he absolutely loved it!!! Fletch was born at 31 weeks, so I was looking for activities we could do to support his development. We went to a Come and Try class and had lots of fun, so we signed up. We love having new musical activities to try at home (and share with Daddy) each week! "

Thanks to 3MBS, This one is about Joseph Haydn, an Austrian classical composer from the late 1700s.

Haydn didn't like people falling asleep during his concerts, so he wrote the Surprise Symphony. It is quiet and relaxing until the end when the music gets louder and ends with a bang!
