Thank you! With freedom from lockdowns possibly only weeks away, we want to give a special shout out to the families and children who have continued their learning with us in these exceptional times.

It has been extremely tough for so many of us, but it has filled our hearts to read the many positive reviews on TrustPilot we receive almost daily. We now have almost 1000 reviews!

Thriving Online - The bonus zoom sessions and online learning have not only provided a chance to socialise and have routine at home, but we have heard from so many parents our classes are still the highlight of their week, despite being online, and we have been so impressed with how the children, even from the youngest of ages, have adapted so brilliantly to this new learning landscape with their parents.

It is very exciting to know that it won’t be long before we can resume in the classroom and continue the progress face to face.

Meanwhile Term 4 gets underway from today and your local teacher will be in touch about re-enrolment for Term 4 if they have not already. We’re back on Zoom and with the Term 4 Online Course until in-person classes resume so the learning and fun continues regardless!

Meet The Franchisees

David Morgan is the owner/operator of Hornsby/North Epping in Sydney. We asked David a few questions so you can get to know him better and this is what he had to say.

Question 1: Assuming you already have food and water, what 3 things would you take to a deserted island?

This is tough. I'd like my wife and kids to be there for me, so if it was a fun island then I'd like that. But it may not be what they want. So the next 3 things would be: Flint for fire, guitar for music and a solar powered satellite phone (if they exist for communicating)

Competition Time - Lockdown Creations

Have you created anything in lockdown? Or for our Queensland readers, anything not in lockdown. This can be a child’s musical or craft creation, or a song you’ve written yourself, your Bumblebee dressed in a costume, a new dinner you've invented, or maybe just a creative new way to fold towels to bring a bit more order to the cupboard! It can be any kind of creation, as long as it was created in the last few months. Anything goes!

The prize is a T-Shirt from the Mini Maestros T-Shirt Store! Plus, a voucher for Term 4 Online Course for a friend – Combined value up to $147.

You must have a child enrolled in Term 4, 2021 Mini Maestros classes to be eligible to enter.

TO ENTER: Reply to this message with a photo, audio, or video file of your creation. Let us know in a couple of sentences what it is, and why it was created.

Entries close October 31st.

The winner will be selected on creativity and quality of entry and will be announced in the next edition of Heart.Beat.

The Whole Brain Child - 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind

Publisher's Summary:
"Your toddler throws a tantrum in the middle of a store. Your preschooler refuses to get dressed. Your 11-year-old sulks on the bench instead of playing on the field. Do children conspire to make their parents’ lives endlessly challenging? No — it’s just their developing brains calling the shots.

In this pioneering, practical book, Daniel J. Siegel - neuropsychiatrist and author of the best-selling Mindsight - and parenting expert Tina Payne Bryson demystify the meltdowns and aggravation, explaining the new science of how a child’s brain is wired and how it matures. The ‘upstairs brain’, which makes decisions and balances emotions, is under construction until the mid-20s. And especially in young children, the right brain and its emotions tend to rule over the logic of the left brain.

By applying these discoveries to everyday parenting, you can turn any outburst, argument, or fear into a chance to integrate your child’s brain and foster vital growth. With clear explanations and age-appropriate strategies for dealing with day-to-day struggles, The Whole-Brain Child shows you how to cultivate healthy emotional and intellectual development so that your children can lead balanced, meaningful, and connected lives."
